Take a deep breath of relief "Dancing with the Stars" contestants -- Jamie Lee Curtis turned down the reality show's request to have her hit the dance floor.
"They've knocked," Curtis admits. "No one was home."
The hit ABC show announced Monday that the upcoming season's lineup will consist of singers Michael Bolton and Brandy, “Dirty Dancing” actress Jennifer Grey, comedienne Margaret Cho, ex-“Baywatch” hunk David Hasselhoff, Sarah Palin's daughter Bristol, “Jersey Shore” star Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino, ex-Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner, former-“The Hills” star Audrina Patridge, ex-Laker Rick Fox, “Brady Bunch” mom Florence Henderson and “That’s So Raven” actor Kyle Massey.
Too bad "Freaky Friday" star Curtis will not be competing for the disco-ball trophy. Curtis shows some serious dance moves in the Disney movie "You Again" which opens Sept. 24.
But her family commitment to husband and actor Christopher Guest as well as her two grown children was too much for Curtis.
"I just don't have the family time for that amount of work," says Curtis, who says the only reason she agreed to do "You Again" was because it was shot during the summer and in Los Angeles.
The 51-year-old Curtis does dance extensively and enthusiastically in the film, especially during a wedding-night dance lesson scene which features co-stars Betty White, Sigourney Weaver and Kristen Bell boogeying.
"There was a choreographer," Curtis admits. "But I was like, 'Dude, I grew up in 1972. I know what I had to do then.' "
By the looks of it, she was right.
Her only regret: the film editing only shows a portion of her busting out, including one moment when she climbed the silk-strands from the dance floor ceiling a la Cirque de Soleil.
"There's an entire sequence when I go up the silk," says Curtis. "Unfortunately, they used a 20th of what we threw down."
That said, Curtis might have also been in a little pain after a lot of training on the arduous show. Even at the film's press day, she was still feeling the effects of a high kick that she did in a cheerleading portion of the film.
"I still have a little pulled muscle," she says. "I did not warm up that day, and I have suffered for it."
