A 36-year-old Lake Forest mother of three was arrested Friday on suspicion of having sex with a 13-year-old Maryland boy she met online, an Orange County sheriff's spokesman said.
Rachel Ann Hicks was arrested on suspicion of rape and child molestation and was being held without bail, said Orange County sheriff's spokesman Jim Amormino.
Hicks, posing as 23-year-old woman, met the Maryland boy online through the XBox Live service in September, Amormino said.
The online chats progressed to phone calls, texts and e-mails that sometimes included Hicks sending the boy sexually explicit images and movies, Amormino said.
Hicks, who went to visit family in Florida around the Thanksgiving holiday, drove up to see the boy Nov. 27, Amormino said.
"She met the victim at his home and while his parents were asleep she had sex with him," Amormino said.
The boy's family discovered "romantic" text messages on the teenager's phone and when confronted about it he told his parents what had happened, Amormino said.
"She gave a phony name and age so we could immediately identify her." Amormino said.
But with help from federal authorities, deputies tracked Hicks down and arrested her at her home this afternoon, Amormino said.
Investigators suspect she may have molested at least one other boy, Amormino said.
