In a tongue-in-cheek call for immigration reform, the United Farm Workers have an offer: Come on, take our jobs.
Arturo Rodriguez, the president of the United Farm Workers, said workers are tired of being blamed by politicians and anti-illegal immigration activists for taking American jobs.
So the UFW is challenging citizens to apply for some of the thousands of agricultural jobs posted with state agencies.
And, they'll make it easy for applicants. Just fill out this form and you'll be trained and connected to farms in need of workers.
A statement on the group's website:
"We are a nation in denial about our food supply. As a result the UFW has initiated the "Take Our Jobs" campaign. Farm workers are ready to train citizens and legal residents who wish to replace them in the field, we will use our knowledge and staff to help connect the unemployed with farm employers. Just fill out the form to the right and continue on to the request for job application."
The form includes fields for your name, e-mail and ZIP code. Just read the message below the application field first:
Job may include using hand tools such as knives, hoes, shovels, etc. Duties may include tilling the soil, transplanting, weeding, thinning, picking, cutting, sorting & packing of harvested produce. May set up & operate irrigation equip. Work is performed outside in all weather conditions (Summertime 90+ degree weather) & is physically demanding requiring workers to bend, stoop, lift & carry up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.

Kern County Supervisor Michael Rubio said it seems like a great opportunity.
"One of the most honorable ways of earning a living is off the sweat of your brow," Rubio told the Contra Costa Times. "I'm looking forward to seeing who might take advantage of it."
According to the Labor Department, more than half the nation's farm workers are illegal immigrants. Comedy Central's "Colbert Report" plans to feature the "Take Our Jobs" campaign on July 8.
