Flowers, candles and stuffed animals filled an intersection on Monday were a 19-year-old Cal State Northridge student died and several others were injured in a fiery car crash over the weekend, police said.
The crash happened early Sunday when a man's Honda Civic collided with a Ford Mustang at a Northridge intersection, killing the driver of the Mustang, Los Angeles police said.
The Mustang's driver was identified as CSUN honor student and sorority member Desirae Crystal Crittenden, 19.
"She was just a wonderful kid, did everything right and was just trying to live her life to the fullest, and you know, going to school, a good kid," the teen's grandmother Florence Crittenden said Monday. "It's hard, you know. Since it happened on Father's Day, it will never be the same."
Florence Crittenden said the teen's parents were making funeral arrangements.
Police believe the crash happened when one of the drivers ran a red light. The Mustang immediately burst into flames, police said.
All four occupants of the Civic were hospitalized, including a passenger who was in critical condition. The driver suffered a broken leg and is facing charges including possible DUI.
