A crashed car exploded in Pomona early Sunday morning, killing one occupant and starting a fire at an apartment building, authorities said.
The car collided into several trees and was engulfed in flames next to an apartment complex when police officers arrived at about 12:51 a.m., according a Pomona Police Department spokesman.
Officers evacuated the aparmtent building and LA County Fire extinguished the flame, police said. No damage to the building was reported.
No one was injured besides the deceased occupant of the vehicle, who is presumed to be the driver, according to Pomona police. The identity of the driver is unknown.
