A man who lead deputies on brief pursuit was fatally wounded after he was shot by authorities in Hemet on Wednesday, deputies said.
The shooting incident began after deputies located a "known parolee at large" around 4:30 p.m. driving on Highway 74. Deputies attempted to stop the suspect, who then fled from authorities, according to a press release from the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.
The brief pursuit ended when the suspect crashed his vehicle into a fence at the intersection of North Cawston Avenue and West Acacia Street. The suspect then exited the vehicle and pointed a weapon at the deputies, who fatally shot the man. The suspect died at the scene.
The deputy-involved shooting was under investigation.
