Dodgers Clinch Fourth Straight NL West Title in Dramatic Fashion in Vin Scully's Final Game at Dodger Stadium

As if it would end any other way…

So pull up a chair, we're going to tell you a story.

Charlie Culberson hit a walk-off home run and the Los Angeles Dodgers clinched the National League West in dramatic fashion in Vin Scully's final game at Dodger Stadium.

Corey Seager hit the game-tying home run with two outs in the bottom of the ninth and Culberson hit his first home run of the year in the bottom of the 10^th as the Dodgers defeated the Colorado Rockies, 4-3, clinching their fourth consecutive NL West title in a storyook ending to Scully's career at Chavez Ravine.

The Dodgers had their destiny in their own hands before the game: a win and they clinch their fourth consecutive NL West Division title. A loss, and the celebration would have to wait. 

Thankfully, they took the bull by the horns and sealed their own fate with one swing. Here's how it went down:

Colorado got on the board first with two runs in the top of the third inning. Christhian Adames led off the inning with a single and scored on a double one play later by Dustin Garneau.

The Dodgers got a run back in the bottom half of the inning when Yasiel Puig hit a sacrifice fly to deep center that scored Howie Kendrick from third.

Seager tied the game with a one-out triple in the bottom of the seventh that scored Justin Turner from first base.

Tyler Anderson was terrific for Colorado, but was chased from the game in the seventh inning after surrendering the triple to Seager.

The left-hander gave LA fits at the plate, allowing two runs on 10 hits with one strikeout in 6 and 1/3 innings of work.

Brandon McCarthy was activated from the disabled list before the game and made his ninth start of the season for the Dodgers.

McCarthy was effective and efficient, allowing just the two runs on four hits with one walk and six strikeouts in 5 and 1/3 innings of work. The lanky right-hander's command was much better than before he went on the disabled list, and he'll likely make another start before the season ends next Sunday. 

The game stayed tied into the ninth inning when manager Dave Roberts inserted his closer, Kenley Jansen, in hopes of giving the Dodgers a chance to win in walk-off fashion in the bottom of the ninth.

After retiring Carlos Gonzalez and Nolan Arenado, Dahl crushed a 96MPH cutter into the seats in right-center to give the Rockies the lead.

Next, Colorado closer Adam Ottavino entered the game to try and earn his sixth save of the season.

Like Jansen, Ottavino retired the first two hitters before serving up the game-tying home run to Seager on a cut-fastball that sent the crowd into a frantic frenzy.

Then, Culberson sent them into a fever pitch as he stroked a fastball from Boone Logan into the short porch in left field and the Dodgers celebrated with champagne on the field, making sure to toast Scully the entire time.
