The Federal Bureau of Investigations is offering up a $20,000 reward to anyone with information leading to the arrest of the so-called "Geezer Bandit", who they said struck for the 14th time at a bank in Morro Bay on Friday.
In a media release on Saturday, the FBI names the Geezer Bandit, who is wanted in connection with numerous robberies throughout California, as the suspect who pulled off a heist at the Heritage Oaks Bank in Morro Bay. FBI officials consider him armed and dangerous.
Just after 3p.m., a masked man dressed in dark clothing entered the bank on Morro Bay Blvd. and produced a small revolver, said Morro Bay police, who, in an initial report, did not officially say the suspect in the robbery was the Bandit.
The suspect threatened two tellers and once they compiled a sum of money for the man, he fled the scene, possibly leaving in a cream colored sedan, said police.
Witnesses at the scene described the suspect as an older man who looked to be in his 60s or 70s.
Morro Bay police, however, believe the man's mask was meant to age his appearance, which is now a trademark of the now infamous Geezer Bandit.
Since 2009 the crook has been on a robbing spree, hitting banks all over the state, including his first 10 robberies at banks in San Diego.
