Eleven people were arrested and eight vehicles towed Friday night in a crackdown on street racing in Carson, authorities said.
Seventeen citations were also issued in the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department sweep, which began at 10 a.m.
Street racing and cruising is a growing movement that's a public nuisance, according to a sheriff's press release, which said more than 500 spectators will attend a street race.
Racing was suspected as the cause of the high-speed crash that killed a woman in Paramount Wednesday night.
The LA County Sheriff's Department Carson Station is asking that anyone with information about illegal street racing call 310-830-1123.
