MMA Fighter Jason ‘Mayhem' Miller Arrested for Alleged Assault on Officer

Mixed martial arts fighter Jason "Mayhem" Miller was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer early Friday morning after he allegedly threatened sheriff's deputies with a fire extinguisher and a metal pole during a confrontation at a Mission Viejo, California, home.

Deputies responding about 1:30 a.m. to a report of a disturbance in the 26200 block of Avenida Calidad (map) heard a woman screaming from inside the residence, the Orange County Sheriff's Department said in a news release.

When deputies entered the property through the side yard, they were met by Miller, who was allegedly yelling and acting aggressively.

"Miller threw a ceramic tile at deputies and threatened them with a large fire extinguisher and metal pole as he retreated towards the backyard," the release said.

Deputies used a stun gun on Miller after they say he refused to comply with their orders. He was handcuffed after an eight-minute struggle, deputies said.

Investigators learned that Miller had been in a fight with two females inside the home. Both were interviewed, but officials said they were uncooperative with the investigation.

Miller was checked out by paramedics, which is protocol after deputies use a stun gun on a suspect.

He was booked for assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer. His bail was set at $50,000 and court appearance scheduled for Monday.

It was unclear if Miller had an attorney.

This wasn't the first brush with the law for Miller. Last year, he was involved in a three-hour SWAT standoff at his Mission Viejo home before he was taken into custody.
