California Highway Patrol investigators want to talk to NBA Hall of Famer Dennis Rodman about a collision on the Santa Ana (5) Freeway in Santa Ana, a CHP officer said Friday.
Rodman is considered a "person of interest" in the two-vehicle collision, which occurred about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday in the southbound lanes of the freeway near Broadway, according to CHP Officer Florentino Olivera.
A motorist, who was driving a black BMW sedan, told the CHP the other driver left the scene of the collision, and alleged he recognized Rodman as being behind the wheel, Olivera said. Investigators are working to determine if that claim was true, the officer said.
"Based on the driver's statement, we have to investigate," Olivera said.
A passenger in the BMW complained of pain following the collision, but there were no major injuries, Olivera said.
