A police officer was injured in a shooting in Hawthorne on Saturday afternoon, according to the Hawthorne Police Department.
The suspect, armed with an 18-inch machete and a gun, was "irate" and refusing to leave a public storage facility, police said.
The officer was shot in the leg and taken to a hospital around 4:20 p.m. on the 4800 block of West Rosecrans Avenue, police said. The officer's condition is unknown.
The suspect was also hit by gunfire in the stomach.
Another police officer was injured in the arm.
Rosecrans Avenue is shut down at Inglewood Avenue and Shoup Avenue for the officer-involved shooting investigation.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department is assisting the Hawthorne Police Department with the investigation.
