Police on Saturday fatally shot a man who they say pulled a gun on them in a secured parking lot of a Southern California police station, officials said.
The incident was reported after 7:30 a.m. at the Culver City Police Station, at 4040 Duquesne Ave., police said.
The incident started when police said they saw a man pacing in front of the station for 15 minutes, authorities said. When police went to the parking lot, the man followed the officers, pulled a weapon and pointed a gun at them, police said.
Police said the man ignored commands to put the weapon down before they fired at him.
The man, who was in his late 50s or early 60s, was not immediately identified.
A woman who lives nearby said she heard up to five gunshots that woke her up.
