SoCal Teen Missing for Two Days Found Safe in Wyoming

Teen told parents she took a road trip to Wyoming with friends

An 18-year-old woman who was reported missing this week has been found in Wyoming with friends after taking an unannounced road trip, her father told NBC4.

Caroline Karimi of West Los Angeles sent her mother a text late Wednesday saying she was in Wyoming with friends, according to her father, Dr. Ardeshir Karimi.

"She told her mom she just wanted to spend some time with her friends before college started," Ardeshir Karimi said.

Caroline Karimi was reported missing Monday after failing to show up for her volunteer job at the San Gabriel Valley Medical Center, leaving her relatives "perplexed" by her disappearance.

Karimi has Aspberger's syndome - an autism spectrum disorder characterized by social impairment and communication difficulties, her father said.

Before she was found, her family was frantic.

"We are looking for information -- if somebody saw her, some kind of police report that her car was found," her father, Dr. Ardeshir Karimi, said earlier."It's devastating."

"We want to hear from her," said the woman's mother, Ardeshir Karimi. "We desperately want to know where she is, what's her situation."

The LAPD on Wednesday afternoon had released a photo, seen at left, of Karimi with two of her friends -- twin sisters. Police said the girls, who have not been reported missing, "may know the whereabouts" of Karimi.

Karimi was seen on surveillance video Monday from a Cheviot Hills Von's store parking lot. The video shows her parking and exiting her green 2007 Toyota Prius before returning with her lunch and driving out of the parking area.

She had been scheduled to board a flight on Wednesday to visit family in Boston.
