A sport utility vehicle snagged downed utility lines Thursday morning on an Echo Park street, lifting the front of the vehicle off the ground before it slammed into the back of a pickup.
Utility crews and ambulances responded to the location on Glendale Boulevard in Echo Park. At least one person was transported in an ambulance, but details regarding that person's condition were not immediately available.
The SUV was one of at least three vehicles involved in a series of crashes along the stretch of Glendale Boulevard, just north of downtown Los Angeles. The power lines and pole fell onto the street in a single-vehicle crash before the SUV arrived and became entangled in the wires.
The northbound side of Glendale Boulevard was closed as crews attempted to clear the power lines. One southbound lane was closed.
