“Stop Watching Us,” Actors Tell NSA in YouTube Video

The video was posted on Wednesday, and has already received more than 320,000 views.

Hollywood figures directed a message at the National Security Agency to “stop watching us,” in a YouTube video posted on Wednesday.

The video, directed at the NSA’s data collection program PRISM and embedded below, features celebrities such as actor Maggie Gyllenhaal and director Oliver Stone.

In stark contrast to their usual on-screen personas, the actors in the video wear no make-up.

“The idea is that these are citizens, and this is an American issue,” said Brian Knappenberger, who wrote and directed the short video. “I think the president should see this video.”

Missing from the video, however, are notable celebrity supporters -- like actor George Clooney and musician Will. I. Am. -- of the Obama administration, which directly oversees NSA's so-called spying program.

News first broke about the National Security Agency's data collection program in May, when a former NSA contractor Edward Snowden leaked classified agency data to U.K.'s The Guardian newspaper.

The video was posted Wednesday, and by 8 p.m. had garnered more than 425,000 views.
