A man was arrested after he was shot at and wounded by a sheriff's deputy, then led police on a brief pursuit on the 91 Freeway, authorities said.
About 2 p.m., an Orange County sheriff's deputy shot at the suspect in the parking lot of a Denny's Restaurant on Oakcrest Circle in Yorba Linda, according to an Orange County Sheriff's Department statement.
The department did not release the reasons for the shooting.
The suspect apparently fled in a vehicle, and deputies caught up with him near the Coal Canyon exit. The suspect was hospitalized, and his condition was not released.
Authorities briefly closed the 91 Freeway during the incident, causing traffic to back up for miles in either direction.
The Orange County District Attorney's office was investigating the deputy-involved shooting.
