Four Hurt, Including 2 Officers, in Crash During Pursuit in South LA

Two police officers were rescued from their patrol car Wednesday morning after crashing during a pursuit in South Los Angeles that also injured two teenagers in the car that police were chasing, police said.

The pursuit began just before 1 a.m. after officers attempted to pull over a vehicle police believed was involved in a drive-by shooting on Tuesday, officials said.

The pursuit lasted about two minutes before it ended near 98th and Main streets.

A patrol car coming to assist in the pursuit crashed into the car being pursued the 100 block of East 98th Street, according to the LAPD.

The officers and teenagers in the other car were taken to a hospital, authorities said.

One officer broke his wrist and the other officer suffered minor-to-moderate injuries.

The driver of the pursued car was possibly a 17-year-old girl and the passenger was a roughly 18-year-old man, police said. Their conditions were not known.

The noise rattled neighbors.
