A 61-year-old woman was found dead inside her Baldwin Park home on Saturday, sheriff's officials said.
Los Angeles County sheriff's homicide detectives took over the case after Baldwin Park police officers did a welfare check about 1:45 p.m. at the home in the 3700 block of Idaho Avenue and found the homeowner dead inside her bedroom.
As of Saturday night, there were no obvious signs of injury or cause of death, detectives said.
Investigators said she lived alone but had tenants that lived with her in the past.
Neighbors reported not seeing the woman for a couple of days, detectives said.
Investigators are talking to the woman's family and looking for her former tenants. They're also waiting on a search warrant in case one of those tenants still lives on the property.
The mayor of Baldwin Park, Manuel Lozano, showed up to the crime scene because he said he knows most of the people in the neighborhood, including the woman who died. Lozano said she has lived at the home for more than 30 years.

"She was extremely involved in community activity throughout her city, so you can imagine there are a lot of individuals on this particular block wanting to know where this investigation will lead," he said.
According to Lozano, the woman was involved with Baldwin Park schools and Boy Scout troops.
A neighbor said the woman had left her garage door open for months.
