Pursuit Driver Arrested in Corvette Stolen From Dealership

The driver was accused of grand theft auto for stealing a white Corvette Stingray.

Police pursued a stolen white Corvette in Riverside after it was taken from a dealership in Culver City on Monday night, according to the Culver City Police Department.

The driver, wearing a blue baseball cap, stole the white Corvette Stingray from a dealership in the 6100 block of Slauson Avenue, according to police.

An employee at the dealership was hurt when the driver slammed the employee's hand in the door as he stole the sports car, according to Culver City police.

"He was screaming for dear life," said witness Tyrese Brigham. "He could have got ran over. It could have been real ugly."

The Corvette with paper license plates was traveling on the 10 Freeway before the driver made his way to Riverside. The car ran over spike strips, designed to damage the car's tires, near Perris Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The pursuit ended in a standoff in Riverside before the driver was taken into custody.
