Four Family Members Killed in South LA House Fire

Four family members, including an 87-year-old grandmother, were killed Tuesday morning in a house fire in the Florence-Graham neighborhood of South Los Angeles.

Firefighters responded to the fire at 11:43 p.m. Monday in the 8700 block of Compton Avenue, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Initially, one person, a man, was pronounced dead at the scene after the fire was extinguished and could not be pulled out of the home.

Family members said an 87-year-old grandmother was among the people killed. She was living in the house with two sons, one of whom is an amputee, family members said.

The woman’s daughter and granddaughter were hospitalized in critical, but stable, condition. The granddaughter died.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
