It's Not Debatable: Clinton, Bush Cancel Visit

They can agree on this -- it's not a debate.

Bill Clinton and George W. Bush won't be coming to LA.

Spokesmen for Bush and Clinton confirmed Monday that the duo have canceled a Feb. 22 appearance at the Gibson Amphitheater.

The reason?

A promoter wrongly billed it as a debate between the two presidents.

Clinton spokesman Matt McKenna said the promoter for the SoCal appearance and another in New York inaccurately billed them as debates when, in fact, they were moderated panel discussions. He said there's been no talk about rescheduling the events.

"We canceled the event because of a violation of contract and a promoter who insisted on billing it as something it wasn't," McKenna told the LA Times.

A news released called the discussion "the hottest ticket in political history."

"It's unfortunate that an overeager promoter ruined the opportunity to hear a serious discussion of the issues between two former presidents who have a great deal of respect for each other," McKenna told the Times.

Tickets for the Los Angeles appearance were to have gone on sale this week at $75 to $125. The event was sponsored by the American Jewish University.

Clinton has made several appearances during the series' history.  In 2004 he spoke with Sen. Bob Dole, his 1996 presidential challenger.

Clinton and Bush made a joint appearance in Toronto in May.
