The White House Friday again vowed that illegal immigrants won't get health care under President Obama's new plan, and a Senate committee looked ready to follow its lead in legislation.
White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said that Obama won't allow illegal immigrants to buy insurance through the purchasing exchanges the government will build -- even from private companies working inside the new system.
"Illegal immigrants would not be allowed to access the exchange that is set up," Gibbs said.
Illegal immigrants are currently barred from health care except in cases of certain emergencies -- but many can still buy private insurance without consequence.
