Divorce Court Comes to Dodger Stadium

Dodgers past gave reason to cheer. Chan Ho didn't.

Welcome to Dodger Stadium, also known as Divorce Court.

Both Frank and Jamie McCourt were spotted a few rows from each other. After a few moments, they acknowledged each other and spoke to each other briefly. Both were seen talking to men in suits not previously seen at Dodger Stadium. Could they be lawyers?

The Dodgers’ PR problems are now exceeded only by their worsening traffic and parking problems.

Billy Ray Cyrus sang the National Anthem. He has gone from being known for “Achy Breaky Heart” to being famous for being Hannah Montana’s dad.

There were three men who threw the ceremonial first pitch -- three-fourths of the Dodgers’ long-running infield -- Steve Garvey, Bill Russell and Ron Cey. The fourth member of this historic group was in the Phillies dugout -- first-base coach Davey Lopes.

The fans begged him to come out, but of course he wouldn’t.

Most unlikely moment -- former Dodger Chan Ho Park getting out Ramirez, Kemp and Blake in the 7th, effectively taking the air out of the Dodgers.

Chan Ho Park?

Everyone has a favorite Chan Ho Park moment from the forgettable late 90’s.

Could it be the Freeway Series, when he gave a comic book karate kick to the Angels’ Tim Belcher? Or when he threw the perfect pitch to Barry Bonds on the last day of the season at Pac Bell Park in 2001, when Bonds set a new major league record for most homers? (Not that anyone’s saying Park grooved one, but many fans have their suspicions.)

Or is it the cold, drizzly night in April 1998, when Park allowed two grand slam home runs in the same inning TO THE SAME BATTER? The batter, or course was the Cards’ Fernando Tatis, and for the people who were there that night, it is a moment they could never forget.

Now they’ll never forget how their old friend mowed down the Dodgers in the 7th.

If the fans were given a choice to camp out in the Dodger Stadium parking lot, some undoubtedly would, as they return late in the morning tomorrow for Game 2.
