About: Established in 1989, Pacific Region OASIS promotes successful aging for adults, age 50-plus, through a proven three-fold approach of offering lifelong learning programs that stimulate the intellect, health programs that keep our participants active and independent, and volunteer activities that place older adults in direct service to the community.
Each year, more than 2,000 adults age 50-plus from throughout the Los Angeles area participate in OASIS programs and classes. This includes more than 300 volunteers, 150 who work to improve the lives of hundreds of elementary school children through high-quality, evidence-based programs; OASIS’ Intergenerational Tutoring and CATCH Healthy Habits programs.
Currently, these two programs work with more than 700 at-risk children annually, from 31 different schools and community agencies, providing important training in literacy skills and/or nutrition and fitness education. To volunteer, click here.
