Men Surrender in Fatal Angel Stadium Fight Case

Two men were interviewed Thursday for their suspected role in a fatal fight at the opening-day game at Angel Stadium.

Police said the two men surrendered to authorities on Wednesday night. No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing, police said.

Police said they will present their findings to the Orange County District Attorney's office, which will determine if any charges are filed.

Brian Powers, 27, had been hospitalized since the fight on Monday. He died Wednesday at UCI Medical Center. Authorities said he was knocked down during the altercation and hit his head on a concrete step.

Witnesses said the victim was fighting with another man. A third man approached the victim from behind and struck his head, according to the Daily Breeze.

The blow caused the man to fall and hit the step, the newspaper reported. The two attackers fled before police arrived.

Police have not established the motive for the fight, which occurred as fans were leaving the stadium after the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim defeated the Oakland Athletics.
