Belen De Leon is the NBC4 Today in LA meteorologist weekdays 4:00 to 7:00 a.m. She is part of the award-winning weather team that has earned Most Accurate Weather Team in Southern California by WeatheRate for six consecutive years.
De Leon's versatility and passion for weather and local news led her into broadcast television more than 15 years ago. She began as a host of a variety entertainment television show then transitioned to radio and news at KNVO-TV in South Texas.
While in Texas from 2007-2011, she reported the weather in English and Spanish, including coverage of Hurricane Dolly in 2008. In 2012, she joined Denver's NBC station, KUSA-TV as a meteorologist of the station's weekday and weekend newscasts forecasting snowstorms, severe weather, and wildfires. There, she became one of the most familiar faces in the community.
De Leon received her Meteorology Certification from Mississippi State University and earned her Seal of Approval from the National Weather Association.
Prior to her career as a meteorologist, De Leon was a member in a Regional Mexican band, spending much of her time on the road performing. In fact, her band La Onda received two Latin Billboard Music Awards. Even now, De Leon enjoys singing, but when she's home, she's spending time with her husband and three children exploring the Los Angeles area.
