Heather Navarro was NBCLA’s Senior Digital Producer. She handled breaking news coverage on the San Bernardino terror attack, the Borderline Bar massacre, and won a Los Angeles Press Club award for social media coverage of the 2016 election. She also created the “Faces of Coronavirus” project with colleague Whitney Irick, covering dozens of heartbreaking stories of loss during the pandemic. She covered theme parks, lifestyle and parenting content. Most recently she took NBCLA’s TikTok to the next level, with millions of views and hundreds of thousands of followers. She recruited, hired and mentored interns for the digital team.
She came to NBCLA with a master’s degree in digital and broadcast journalism from USC after winning the Bryce Nelson Award for Distinguished Journalism. Prior to getting her master’s, she covered the South Bay with Patch.com, and learned the ins and outs of keywords at an SEO company.
