Jessica Alba is mourning the past as she looks to the future.
Over a week after news broke that the "Fantastic Four" actress and her husband Cash Warren had split after 16 years of marriage, Alba confirmed the breakup with a heartfelt statement.
“I’ve been on a journey of self realization and transformation for years – both as an individual and in partnership with Cash,” she wrote in her Jan. 16 post. “I’m proud of how we’ve grown in our marriage over the last 20 years and it’s now time for us to embark on a new chapter of growth and evolution as individuals.”

Alba — who shares daughters Honor, 16, Haven, 13, and son Hayes, 7, with Warren — stressed the amicability of the split, noting how deeply the family is bonded.
“We are moving forward with love, kindness and respect for each other and will forever be family,” she added. “Our children remain our highest priority and we request privacy at this time.”
She captioned the post with a simple white heart.
Warren, for his part, has not addressed his and Alba’s split.
While the breakup might not have come as a surprise for the most attentive of fans — after all, Alba had appeared on multiple occasions without her wedding ring in recent months—the family of five seemed to be as good as ever just days before the split was revealed.
On Jan. 3, Alba shared a carousel of images of the family of five enjoying a day at Universal Studios Hollywood in honor of Hayes’ birthday. Among the pics were snaps of the family smiling and posing together as they explored offerings such as Super Nintendo World and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
“The best day at #UniversalStudios celebrating our 7 year old, Hayes,” the Honest Company founder wrote in the caption. “Thank you for having us, @unistudios."
Over the years, Alba had been candid about the ups and downs that come with a relationship of 20 years, she and Warren having met on the set of Fantastic Four in 2004.
“I would say it’s all rosy for two-and-a-half years,” Alba told podcast host Katherine Schwarzenegger during a 2024 appearance. “But then after that you become roommates. You're just going through the motions, the responsibilities. It's a lot of like checking the boxes.”
She added of her husband, “I think that he probably gets the short end of the stick,” before correcting herself. “I would say we‚ it's not even him, I would say it's us, right?” she reflected. “Because when I'm seeing him and spending time with him, and we're like really like enjoying each other, it's an us thing. And it feeds me as well.”
