A customer who was shot in the head at a 7-Eleven in Riverside was in grave condition, police said Monday.
Riverside police received a call around 1:50 a.m. regarding a robbery at the 7-Eleven on La Sierra Avenue at the corner of Norwood Avenue.
Investigators say at around 1:50 a.m. officers responded to a robbery and shooting that happened inside the store.
"When they arrived they found a male adult victim in his mid 40s suffering from a gunshot wound," Officer Ryan Railsback said.

Police said the customer was shot in the head but still breathing when officers arrived.
He says the gunman robbed the clerk and seconds later shot the customer before leaving.
"No reason to believe that there was anything the customer or the clerk did to warrant this shooting, this type of violence," Railsback said.

The shooter ran from the scene before Riverside officers arrived.
Police currently do not have a description of the shooter. It is also unclear if any other customers were involved.
Riverside police are also trying to figure out if the robber involved in the shooting might be involved in other 7-Eleven shootings that happened at three locations in Orange County during the early morning hours. Upland police say the man captured on a surveillance photo robbed a 7-Eleven at around 12:35 a.m. at the corner of West Arrow Route and Monte Vista.
No one was hurt. The Upland robbery suspect appears to be the same person Brea police are also looking for.
