Authorities Open Homicide Investigation in Santa Clarita

Homicide detectives are investigating the death of a man whose bloody body was found by a group of children outside his Santa Clarita home.

Anthony Lombardi, 55, was found stabbed to death in a car parked in the driveway of his home near Vista Valencia Golf Course.

Lombardi was found at about 12:10 p.m. Tuesday in the 24200 block of Undine Road in the driver's seat of his vehicle, with multiple stab wounds in the upper body, said Deputy Byron Ward of the Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau.

A group of children playing in the neighborhood found his body inside his dark-colored Honda coupe, the Daily News reported. His legs were hanging out of the opened driver's side door.

Sheriff's Lt. Dave Coleman told the newspaper that no weapon was found, and it was unclear if Lombardi, who lived alone, had been robbed.

Authorities said Lombardi, who lived alone, owned a business that services ATMs.

"It's possible that he might have been followed home," said Sgt. Mitch Loman.

Anyone with information on the stabbing was asked to call the sheriff's Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500.
