District on Sunset is Now Closed

The man who has been tagged the 'mayor of Sunset Blvd' might be losing his footing. The Feast just received word that George Abou-Daoud, who is responsible for the popular Bowery, Delancey and Mission Cantina eateries, among others, is closing District.

This is just weeks after Abou-Daoud opened his first eatery off the boulevard, Rosewood Tavern, which is a casual gastropub on Fairfax. We are not sure yet exactly what happened with District but there had been several recent attempts to lighten up the menu to small bar bites after the departure of Kris Morningstar (who went on to open Ray's and Stark Bar at LACMA).

At the moment, it appears that The Mercantile sister eatery next door will stay open but the story is still unfolding. Stay tuned. [The Feast]
