Christmas Eve at the Foundry: Chef Eric Greenspan sizzled up beet and carrot latkes throughout Hanukkah (donuts, too); now he's cooking up a Chinese feast just in time for December 24th.
The menu: Scallion steamed buns, pork belly, chow mein, crispy sesame beef, orange chicken, honey walnut shrimp (oh great yumminess), fried rice, and fortune cookies.
Price: $39; all the dishes will be served family-style, which is how it should be on Christmas Eve.
Movie time: Film-going is, for many people, a staple of the holiday. But sitting back, scarfing a savory pork bun and watching "The Princess Bride," followed by "The Big Lebowski," sounds just about ideal. The two classics will be projected on a wall in the bar of the Melrose-based restaurant.
The Foundry: Beef short ribs, hangar steak with capers and a brown butter mash, and caramelized scallops are some of the items on the year-round, not-holiday Foundry menu. Plus lots of specialty cocktails.
