If you have a dog, and you bake, you've probably scrambled after an errant chocolate chip skittering across the kitchen floor. Because, like people who are devoted to the small, panting, meow-y beings in their lives, you are schooled in the dangers, and know the things that might be delightful to humans are not so for our pets. No chocolate. Beware of feeding them this one kind of vegetable. Don't go for walks in snake-infested country. Use care.
But even though dog and cat fans know, by heart, what to watch for, many of us don't know how to perform CPR on our pets, or what to do if a pup swallows an entire box of chocolates or a cat is overcome with heat. The Pawstronomical Pet CPR Event, taking place on Saturday, April 18th, seeks to teach humans how to save their animals in an urgent moment. Signs to look for will be shared, as well as CPR methods and tips to help a pet who may have difficulty breathing.
If you count yourself priviliged to know your pet -- and so many animal lovers use that very word, "priviliged" -- learning CPR is a solid course of action.
