Opening: Cool Globes at Exposition Park

The globe, as a symbol, is pretty perfect. It's instantly recognizable to any earthling, and the shape, which essentially has no beginning and no end, makes for an unusual canvas.

And while we'll take the globe we all live on just as it is (okay, we acknowledge a few urgent improvements are needed), the smaller globes now dotting Exposition Park please us with their variety, their cheekiness, their seriousness, and their common call to action. The Cool Globes exhibit, which has been touring the country for several months now, has already made stops in Chicago, Washington D.C. and San Francisco. Now it is LA's turn to get a look at these works of art, which have an environmental message, a bit of humor, and tons of artistic flair.

Take an hour and wander among the 50+ globes now spread around Exposition Park. Remember your camera, too. The exhibit, which debuted on Earth Day, is in Los Angeles through July 23. 900 Exposition Park, Los Angeles.
