Politics of Fashion: Bonobos Launches Obama and McCain Trousers

The Obamas left; the McCains right

Trouser label Bonobos—which aims to dress the man who doesn't want to wear lifeless Dockers, but isn't fit to wear model-thin designer gear—has just launched its Obamas and McCains navy brushed cotton trousers. For the democratic nominee: "The Obamas target our charismatic customers—the magnificent tile-style floral mosaic liner screams open-minded, well-traveled, gregarious. " And for the republican camp: "The McCains are our first pair with a liner that doesn't show through the back: as conservative as we get. Navy outside, with a supersoaker liner. No contrast color cross-stitching on the belt loop, either. You asked for the clean cut, you got it." The label clearly aligns itself with Obama at the end of its McCains description: "Check out the Obamas for more signature Bonobos flair." The brand will be keeping track of which style, both $120, sells better on its blog.
