Ever since hosting the 1960 Winter Olympics, Squaw Valley has been California's most iconic ski resort.

And now the legend is bigger and better than ever. That's because in 2011 Squaw joined neighbors Alpine Meadows. Today, the combined resort spans 6,000 skiable acres, all spread out over 270 trails and serviced by 42 lifts. That makes Squaw Valley | Alpine Meadows one of the largest ski resorts in North America.

Add abundant snowfall, a unique mountaintop learning area and a vibrant resort village full of charming shops and delicious restaurants, and you've got Lake Tahoe's answer to the mega European resort experience, but with a vibe that's distinctly Californian.

To get your ultimate spring skiing getaway started, book slopeside accommodations at The Village at Squaw Valley, where a four night stay and three days of skiing for two guests starts at $311 a night.

Two Mountains, 1 Lift Ticket
With chutes, glades and the world-famous K-22 headwall, Squaw has always been home to revered terrain. But by joining forces with Alpine Meadows, Squaw now offers skiers and boarders some of the most diverse and expansive terrain in the world…all accessible on a single lift ticket! Grab the Squaw/Alpine Express--a 15-minute shuttle that runs continuously between the two resorts--and you can experience both resorts in the same epic day

Mountaintop Learning Area
While most mountains keep beginner terrain at the bottom of the hill, Squaw takes its novices 2,800 feet above the base village. There they'll find one of the few mountaintop beginner areas in the ski world. Under the guidance of instructors from the world-class Squaw Valley Snowsports School, beginners can take in beautiful views of Lake Tahoe while basking in the blissful sun. Beginners can ride the Aerial Tram up to elevation 8,200 feet where they will find expansive, wide-open beginner runs, as well as restaurants, an open-air ice rink, and a mountaintop pool and hot tub at the High Camp complex. Whether it is a kid’s first time on skis – or an adult who is learning to ski or ride later in life – the mountaintop beginner area allows first-timers to really understand what is so wonderful about skiing and snowboarding.

World-Class Pedigree
Squaw shocked the sporting world by securing the 1960 Winter Olympic bid. Not only was the single chairlift resort a serious underdog, but it was up against Innsbruck, Austria, the center of the ski world at the time. But thanks to the first televised coverage of the Games, the ski world soon saw what Squaw was made of, putting the sunny Lake Tahoe resort squarely on the map. Guests from all over the world have been coming back ever since.

Spring Skiing
Besides the blissful ski conditions, Spring skiers and boarders can take advantage of the California sun at High Camp, a mid-mountain paradise replete with a heated swimming pool and hot tub. Ditch your gear and throw on a swim suit in the locker room, then take a high altitude dip. The 25-foot diameter hot tub gets very popular thanks to its toasty 102 degree temp, while the surrounding deck is perfect for a cocktail from Umbrella Bar. Add incredible spring snow conditions and one of the longest ski seasons in the country, and it is little wonder that Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows are widely known as North America’s Spring Skiing Capital. Squaw Valley was recently ranked one of the Top 5 spring Skiing destinations in North America by The New York Times. From pool parties to star-studded concerts, Squaw and Alpine host lively spring events all season long for a uniquely Californian spring scene.
