Mountaintop Learning Area

Under the guidance of instructors from the world-class Squaw Valley Snowsports School, beginners can take in beautiful views of Lake Tahoe while basking in the blissful sun. Beginners can ride the Aerial Tram up to elevation 8,200 feet where they will find expansive, wide-open beginner runs, as well as restaurants, an open-air ice rink, and a mountaintop pool and hot tub at the High Camp complex. Whether it is a kid’s first time on skis – or an adult who is learning to ski or ride later in life – the mountaintop beginner area allows first-timers to really understand what is so wonderful about skiing and snowboarding.
World-Class Pedigree
Squaw shocked the sporting world by securing the 1960 Winter Olympic bid. Not only was the single chairlift resort a serious underdog, but it was up against Innsbruck, Austria, the center of the ski world at the time.
