If you’ve ever wished for something to satiate those late-night cupcake cravings or the need for a quick cupcake on the go, Sprinkles Cupcakes has the answer with their latest innovation -- the 24-hour cupcake ATM.
From the people who brought you the so-called world’s first cupcake bakery, the first cupcake food truck, and the doggie cupcake comes an automated dispenser fully stocked with freshly baked Sprinkles cupcakes.
The bubble-gum pink colored machine will be up and running by March 9 at their Beverly Hills flagship store. It will eventually appear outside all Sprinkles locations nationwide, said Sprinkles’ marketing representative Nicole Schwartz.
The machine will dispense individually-packaged cupcakes in all the day’s flavors, and cupcake mixes, apparel, and doggie cupcakes for those who can’t part with their pooch to go inside and get them a treat.
Customers will be able to watch on the screen as the machine carefully selects their cupcake. Protective packaging will ensure it looks as good as it would in the store, Schwartz said.
The idea came from Sprinkles' founder and "Cupcake Wars" judge Candace Nelson.
“I conceived the idea of an automatic cupcake machine after having late-night sugar cravings while pregnant with my second son,” Nelson said in a prepared statement. “Even as Sprinkles’ founder, I couldn’t get my midnight cupcake fix.”
The machine is another cupcake innovation since Sprinkles' grand opening in 2005. Their ice cream shop will open next door to the Beverly Hills location later this month. It will feature cupcake sandwiches with ice cream tucked between layers of cupcake.
