Arrest Made in Slaying of Arcadia Grandmother

Authorities have made an arrest in connection with the death of a 76-year-old woman in Arcadia whose body was found by a construction crew in the backyard of her home April 9, sheriff's officials said Saturday.

Heber Enoc Diaz, 27, was arrested on suspicion of murder in the killing of Chyong Jen Tsai, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Information Bureau.

Tsai died from the "combined effects of multiple sharp force injuries, multiple blunt trauma and asphyxia," according to coroner's records.

Tsai's vehicle, a 2005 Lexus RX 300, was stolen from her home in the 300 block of East Forest Avenue and was recovered Thursday night in the 900 block of Colorado Boulevard in Los Angeles, the Sheriff's Information Bureau reported.

At about 10:30 a.m. Friday, investigators located Diaz as he was leaving his home in Pasadena and he was arrested without incident.

Anyone with information about the case was urged to call the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500.
