Boyfriend Arrested in Gruesome Stabbing of Doctor in West Hollywood

A man is accused of mutilating his boyfriend in their West Hollywood home. Gadi Schwartz reports from West Hollywood for the NBC4 News at 11 on Wednesday, April 9, 2014.

A man was arrested on suspicion of murdering his boyfriend, a doctor who was found stabbed to death inside the home they shared in West Hollywood, authorities said.

Andre Damiane Davids, 36, was arrested March 30 in the slaying of 34-year-old Kurtland Ma, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

"It appears to be a crime of passion where you know one boyfriend wasn't as faithful to the other. The other one got upset," Lt. John Corina said.

Deputies were called to conduct a welfare check at the home in the 900 block of Palm Avenue on March 29. When no one answered the door, deputies broke it down.

Deputies found Ma dead. Davids was found hiding in a bathroom trying to overdose on pills.

Investigators said Davids cut Ma open and put some of the organs into Ma’s mouth.

“He did remove some organs and stabbed him quite a few times,” Corina said.

Investigators said Davids confessed to what took place.

An unrelated stabbing occurred at the same apartment complex a week later. Three victims were injured and another man was shot and killed by a deputy.

Some neighbors told NBC4 the apartment complex isn't what it used to be and that they are looking to move.

"They were extreme and violent and that is really terrifying," a neighbor who didn't want to be identified said.
