Forecasted triple-digit temperatures in the area where the so-called Warm Fire was burning near Castaic Lake was posing a concern for firefighters trying to douse the blaze. Toni Guinyard reports for Today in LA on Monday, Aug. 17, 2015.

A fast-moving brush fire continued to burn over 300 acres Monday morning after erupting in a northern Los Angeles mountain community one day earlier, officials said.

Several structures were set ablaze by the so-called Warm Fire, which sent massive plumes of smoke high into the air over the Lake Castaic area. By Monday morning, the fire was not threatening any residential areas was was burning north into a remote and inaccessible area.

Firefighters made water drops as the blaze charred hundreds of acres from Sunday afternoon into Monday morning, US Forest Service Battalion Chief John Flores said.

The blaze was 10 percent contained as of Monday morning. Flores said heat was a concern for firefighters dousing the flames.

Aerial images showed structures burned to the ground. Crews doused other buildings in the surrounding area to prevent the flames from spreading.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
