Authorities are investigating a report of a shooting that injured multiple people Saturday night in a backyard in Spring Valley.
The incident happened around 8 p.m. in the 9000 block of Ildica Street, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.
Five adults were taken to the hospital with gunshot injuries, sheriff’s Lt. Mike Krugh said.
Two juveniles who were in the vicinity were taken to Rady Children's Hospital with burn injuries, which authorities believe came from the shooter throwing fireworks in their direction to mask the sound and divert attention from the shooter.

The victims all appear to be in stable condition, the sheriff's department said late Saturday night.
No one has been taken into custody, officials said.
At this time, authorities believe there is only one suspect and that there isn't any threat to the public.

People outside the crime scene, including residents, are not allowed in the area until the detectives say it no longer needs to be closed off.
The sheriff's department is working with several mutual aid agencies, including California Highway Patrol, the San Diego Police Department and the National City Police Department.
