Brush fire burns in Angeles National Forest above Glendora

Fire crews were battling a brush fire on a hot Friday afternoon in Angeles National Forest.

As of Saturday evening, the Fork Fire grew to 330 acres with 30% containment, according to authorities.

The following closures are in effect:

  • Highway 39
  • East Fork Road
  • Glendora Ridge Road
  • Glendora Mountain Road

The Los Angeles Sheriff's Department was deployed for an air rescue of seven hikers who were in proximity to the Fork Fire. The hikers were on the trail leading to the Bridge to Nowhere.

The fire started near East Fork and Glendora Mountain roads above the community of Glendora. A tall plume of smoke was rising from the burning canyon.

Two firefighters were hurt in the blaze, according to Forest Service. The severity of their injuries was not disclosed.
