Arraignment Postponed for Couple Charged With Murder, Kidnapping

The pair is charged with killing the woman's stepsister and abducting her children.

Arraignment was postponed Monday morning for a couple charged with killing the woman's stepsister and kidnapping her three children after her body was found on a remote road back in August.

Britney Sue Humphrey, 22, and her boyfriend, Joshua Aaron Robertson, 27, were charged with killing Humphrey's stepsister and kidnapping her 2-year-old, 3-year-old and 5-year-old.

Robertson refused to come to court and his arraignment was postponed to Tuesday morning. Humphrey was ordered to return to court on Dec. 15 to enter a plea.

Both defendants could face up to life in prison.

The couple was charged with murder and kidnapping in September after the body of Humphrey's stepsister, 26-year-old Kimberly Harvill, was found in northern Los Angeles County, in brush along Gorman Post Road. The sheriff's department said the victim had been shot in the upper body.

After killing Harvill, Humphrey and Robertson kidnapped her three young children and fled to Colorado. The children were found safe in a motel outside Albuquerque, New Mexico, about 10 days later.

Humphrey and Robertson were arrested a day after the children were found. Robertson is also charged with a count of possession of a firearm by a felon.
