Congrats, Fabio: Italian Model Becomes U.S. Citizen

Fabio, the man best known as the Italian model for the cover of romance novels and the dreamy guy in the "I Can't Believe It's Not Butter!" commercials, was welcomed as a U.S. citizen Wednesday at a downtown Los Angeles ceremony.

"This is one of the happiest days of my life," Fabio said in a statement. "Over the course of my career I've had the opportunity to travel the globe and America is still the greatest country on earth. There is no such thing as an Italian dream or an English dream but the American dream is alive and well. Each day people look to come to this country to seek a better life for themselves and their family. That was my dream and my thanks to the USCIS for helping turn that dream into a reality. I am proud to be an American."

More than 6,000 coming from 140 countries swore the oath of allegiance to become citizens along with the model with lucious locks.

Fabio, whose full name is Fabio Lanzoni, met all qualifications to become a citizen and is now able to vote, serve jury duty, or even become an elected official.

Consider this: You may one day be on a jury with the 57-year-old fashion model, spokesman and actor.
