One person was killed in a small plane crash in the hills northwest of Ventura on Thursday afternoon, fire officials said.
The crash took place near the 101 Freeway under "unknown circumstances," said Allen Kenitzer, spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration.
Reports of a second aircraft being involved were being investigated, the Ventura County Fire Department said.
