Firefighters put out a fire that erupted at a recycling yard near Torrance on Saturday, officials said.
More than 100 firefighters battled the massive fire reported around 10:12 a.m. in the 20300 block of South Normandie Avenue in Harbor Gateway, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The fire was declared a knockdown at 1:52 p.m., LAFD said.
One firefighter was transported to a hospital with a minor injury and is reported to be in fair condition.
Large plumes of smoke could be seen as far as Seal Beach.
No further details were immediately available.
