A man dubbed the "Funeral Burglar" pleaded no contest Thursday to burglarizing two houses in Los Angeles and Sherman Oaks while the home's occupants were attending funerals.
Brett Rogers, now 45, was immediately sentenced to four years in state prison following his plea to two felony counts of first-degree residential burglary, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.
Rogers burglarized homes in Los Angeles and Sherman Oaks on March 7 and March 11, according to Deputy District Attorney Elizabeth Karb.
A third burglary charge involving an April 2017 break-in at the home of a Glendale woman attending her husband's funeral was dismissed as a result of Rogers' plea, but he was ordered to pay restitution for all three burglaries, according to the District Attorney's Office.
Los Angeles police said earlier this year that they received several calls that helped them identify Rogers as the suspect after they released security video from a doorbell camera at the Sherman Oaks home when the home's
occupants were away at a funeral.
Rogers was arrested in May and has remained behind bars since then, according to jail records.
