Altadena Fatal Shooting Victim Identified

A man  shot and killed on the patio of an Altadena hamburger stand on Thursday has been identified.

Christopher Walker, 26, died after being gunned down on the patio outside Fair Oaks Burger at 2560 Fair Oaks Ave., at the intersection with Calaveras Street, in what is believed to have been a gang-related shooting.

The incident occurred about 4:30 p.m, with a man approaching and arguing with the victim before opening fire, striking him multiple times, according to the LA County Sheriff's Department.

His father Richard Walker, who works for NBC4, said his son's death was something he had feared ever since he got involved with street gangs.

"When he was 11-years-old he joined a gang and he's 26 now. So for the last 15 years I've dreaded this day, because we know where gangs lead to," Walker said, "When I saw the pastor drive up I knew something was wrong, I just didn't know quite what. I knew it was bad."

However he was glad he was able to repair his relationship with his son before his death.

"I said I was sorry for the way I reacted to him joining a gang, and that I loved him and we reconciled. A couple of years ago he moved back out here and he was working and we thought getting his life together, but there was still that pull on him," Walker said.

The victim was taken to Huntington Memorial Hospital for treatment following the attack, but succumbed to his injuries.

A dark gray four-door car with at least two people inside was seen leaving the area, headed east.

The 2500 block of Fair Oaks Avenue was closed to accommodate the shooting investigation.
