Attacker Sought in Anaheim Stabbing

Two people were wounded in a stabbing near Disneyland. Police believe the incidents are related and are searching for the assailant. Toni Guinyard reports for the NBC4 News on Friday, Sept. 16, 2016.

Police searched Friday for the man who stabbed and wounded two people in Anaheim.

A 32-year-old man, of Garden Grove, and a 30-year-old woman, of Anaheim, were critically wounded in Thursday night's stabbings, which occurred within a block from each other, leading Anaheim police to believe the incidents are related.

They are investigating the stabbings as "one continuous event" that started in one place and ended in another, said Anaheim police Sgt Daron Wyatt.

Officers were asked at 7:59 p.m. Thursday to respond to a shooting in the 1100 block West Ball Road, Wyatt said. Responding officers discovered the man actually was suffering from a stab wound when they found him on the sidewalk near the Springhill Suites Hotel on Ball Road.

Two minutes later, officers were asked to respond to a stabbing in front of the Holiday Inn in the 1200 block of South Walnut Street, where the woman was stabbed.

Both victims were taken to hospitals, and were in still in critical condition as of 8:15 a.m., Wyatt said.

While the incident occurred near the Disneyland Resort, it was not linked to the resort, which was not affected in any way, Wyatt said.

No connection had been made between the two victims as of Friday morning, according to Wyatt.

Anyone with information regarding the incident was urged to contact Crime Stoppers at (855) TIP-OCCS or, by email, at occrimestoppers.org.

"Somebody's gonna know something," Wyatt said. "Somebody would have seen something and if they weren't talked to last night, we need to get their information and talk to them."
